I set up Wakefield Acupuncture in 2009 and continue to work there on a full time basis.

I had first used acupuncture as a patient in 1996 when trying to resolve a niggling swimming injury that was stopping me competing. Acupuncture worked for me when physiotherapy and medication had not done so. As a result i continued to use acupuncture to treat sporting and other conditions and in general found acupuncture to work well for me.

I trained at the Nortern College of Acupuncture between 2006 and 2009, gaining both a thorough knowledge of chinese medicine and and its application in an acupuncture clinic.

Since 2009 I estimate that i have treated over 4000 patients. The majority of my patients come to me by word of mouth. I have treated a very wide range of conditions and patients ranging in age from 4 to 102.

I have a realistic approach to acupuncture, it works well for many people a lot of the time but isn't magic. If i don't think acupuncture will help you I will say so at the free consulation. I rely heavily on distal acupuncture techniques making use of the hands and feet as I have found these to usually be the most effective approach, but I am not rigid and use many other approaces such as auricular, electro acupuncture and back points if having listened to the patient's symptoms I think these may work better.

Outside of acupuncture family life is very important to me but I do still find the time to attempt to run, swim and cycle. I also teach and coach swimming at Scissett swimming club.
