Jonathan Tilt, the principal acupuncturist is an experienced practitioner who is a member of the British Acupuncture Council. His work is regulated and inspected by both Wakefield and barnsley councils.
Acupuncture is a form a oriental medicine that utilises very fine needles to regulate the flow of blood and energy within the body. Acupuncture is painless and completely hygienic. The needles used are so fine that you won't even feel them being inserted. There are virtually no side effects to treatment and the majority of patients say that they find it a relaxing and pleasant experience..
As a form of holistic medicine acupuncture utilese points that are often not near where the pain is being experienced. At Wakefield Acupuncture we generally use acupuncture systems that rely heavily on points in the lower arms and legs and for most patients these will be the main areas in which needles are inserted.
Frequently the aim with acupuncture is to stimulate the body's own healing and immune systems. Most patients experience a significant improvement in their condition after between three and five treatments. For the majority of patients we do not believe that it is necessary to keep receiving treatment in order to stop the problem from returning once you are better.
We treat a wide range of conditions but have a particular focus on the following conditions
- Migraines and headaches
- Back pain and sciatica
- Muscular pain, especially shoulder and neck pain
- Digestive problems
In each of these areas we achieve very good results. If you are interested in receiving treatment for a condition not detailed above please feel free to contact us to discuss if acupuncture could help you.
We will always provide an honest and realistic assessment at the start of the treatment. If we feel that acupuncture is unlikely to help you we will say so.
